Elsewhere Waitrose has announced that it will offer an additional 10,000 online grocery collection slots by adding around 70 new stores by the end of May, bringing the total number to 30,000. “We are now making more online deliveries than Christmas week, every week, and have increased slots to reach 20% more customers than usual,” Waitrose.com director Ben Stimson said.
Asda is doing a great and sensible job of only releasing slots one day at a time, one week away. (Unlike Waitrose who have released all their slots up until 8 July, all of which are now full ) Question is - what time do Asda release the next day's slots? It isn't midnight.
The retailer has this week added its Waitrose.com online delivery service to 24 more of its shops across the country, as part of a national rollout programme. The shops were strategically placed to handle increased demand for its online shopping service ahead of the end of the Ocado partnership later this year, Waitrose said.I have tried all the the others Morrisons, Waitrose, Asda, Tesco and Sainburys and they haven't goyt anything. So do the slots update at midnight? I tried then and couldnt' find anthing either but a new day was added and it was sold out immediately. The Waitrose Rapid service has recently trebled its deliveries to 7,000 per week, with at least 40 per cent of the slots reserved for vulnerable customers. The service offers up to 25 products for.
When new site is open Waitrose will have quadrupled London shopping slots in under a year. After laying out plans in May to double the number of Waitrose.com slots in London with the opening of a second online fulfilment centre, Waitrose has announced a third such site. The new centre will significantly further increase the availability of delivery slots for customers in and around the capital.
Waitrose has also followed suit adding 10,000 new slots and 5,0000 rapid delivery slots. Online supermarket Ocado, Co-Op and Iceland also claim to be making new food delivery slots available.
The supermarket added it was doing its best to respond to the much-increased need for slots, but demand was still far outstripping the number Waitrose could reach. The new Enfield customer fulfilment centre will work alongside an existing CFC in Coulsdon, which delivers across the south London area, and a network of 14 delivery shops in the capital, which together deliver to all London postcodes.
Waitrose is piling investment into new initiatives in the hopes that its online customers will stay instead of jumping ship to its upmarket rival, announcing plans to launch 5000 new products last month. “September offers the single biggest growth opportunity for our business and we’re investing heavily to achieve it,” Waitrose digital director Ben Stimson said. “We’re not starting.
This new centre will help us better serve the London area with a much broader range of slots.” Across the country, Waitrose.com orders are mostly picked and delivered to customers from its network of shops, covering almost 90% of active UK postcodes. To help meet high demand in London, Waitrose has already opened CFCs in Coulsdon and Enfield.
By Liz Wells in Industry News 29th June 2020 Waitrose has opened a third online fulfilment centre in London to significantly increase the availability of delivery slots for customers in and around the capital. The centre, in Greenford, West London, will be opened and operated with logistics company Wincanton.
Had our delivery from Waitrose today (sometimes Tesco, but no delivery slots til Thursday) - the driver said it is nuts - they had 50% more deliveries than normal today and 3 of his prior customers were self isolating - he had to leave everything at the (closed) door after making sure they were in.
Waitrose has announced the launch of its new national online roll-out programme, which will add Waitrose.com online delivery service to a further 24 sites across the country. The supermarket giant said these sites were “strategically placed” to handle an increased demand for its online shopping service in preparation for its upcoming split from Ocado.

WAITROSE is to add an extra 5,000 “rapid” delivery slots each week so customers can order groceries and receive them in two hours or less. The retailer said it planned to more than triple its capacity for the speedy service, increasing the number of available slots from 2,000 to 7,000 each week - almost half of which will be given to vulnerable people.
